On Thursday 11 June Minister Heather Humpries 
TD Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht  and John Concannon Director Ireland 2016, visited Aras Chill Dara to meet the Kildare Decade of Commemorations Committee. Also present were Mayor Fiona O'Loughlin, teachers and pupils from Patrician Primary School, Newbridge (who formed a guard of honour, representing those men from Newbridge who died in WWI); pupils and teachers from Gaescoil Collaiste Chill Dara, Naas; Naas Local History Group; Marian Higgins, Acting Co. Librarian; James Durney, Historian in Residence; Mario Corrigan, Local Studies; artist Dave Butler; Eric Hennelly-Flanagan, Riverbank Arts centre; Peter Carey and Peter Minnock, KCC.
